With a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry, and a Master's degree in teaching, Susan has had several careers. She has worked as a biologist and a medical research assistant, and is currently an 8th grade science teacher in the rural northern Michigan town of Boyne City. The two most important things in her life are her children, Geoff and Katie. It is her hope that this trip will inspire her own children, as well as her students, to pursue their ambitions, despite the hardships involved. When she's not busy with her kids, Susan enjoys gardening, running, skiing and biking, and occassionally dabbles in extreme endeavors, such as skydiving, rock climbing, whitewater rafting and this trip!
