OUR SPONSORS
|
Our
thanks to NASA for the support of their Tracking and Data Relay Satellite
(TDRS-F1).This unique communications satellite watched the exact North
Pole every day for five hours. By pointing one of its 16-foot dish
antennas at the Pole, the NASA field team established a megabit-per-second
Internet link using only an 18-inch pizza-pan antenna. See
the COOLSPACE website for details on live Webcast events that
you can participate in. |
|
The
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided
the satellites for the weather images. Environment Canada is
a NOAA- direct readout site in Resolute Bay and their headquarters
in Edmonton, provided the daily images with the GPS location of the
skiers and the NASA team. |

Special

WomenQuest

helped make Polar Trek 2001 a reality. We are delighted that many of them

Globalstar
satellite telephone service is delivered through special multi-mode
phones, which work just like traditional cellular phones when you
are in an area with cellular coverage. When you need to communicate
from outside the area covered by ground-based systems, the phones
easily switch to Globalstar satellite mode. Satellite and cellular
communications are both at your fingertips. The women of Polar Trek
are using these phones while training in Russia. |
