Part One: (15 points)
(1) Click here to visit the WomenQuest map section and draw a full page map to scale of the Arctic circle. Use the Internet to supplement the information you need. Include latititude lines and locate the North Pole. Label countries found within the Arctic Cricle. Provide scale of miles and color the map.

Part Two: (50 points)
(2) Use at least three sources (Internet, books, magazine articles) to research the following topics:
- What kinds of animal and plant life exist in the Arctic? How far north does their range extend (i.e., are these animals found at the North Pole)? How are they adapted to this environment? How do organisms obtain energy in this environment?
- What are some major "geographic features" (remember that there is no land at the North Pole) of the polar region?
- What is the weather like (include information on average temperature, wind chill, precipitation)?
- Whjat biomes exist within the Arctic? How are they different?
- Extra credit: Explain how humans have impacted the Arctic. (10 points)
PRESENTATION:Once you have compiled this information, think of interesting ways to present it to the class. Some possibilities include:
- PowerPoint presentation
- Game Board
- Poster
- Children's book
Check with your teacher if you have other ideas.
Be prepared to share your project with the class on the due date.
